Mission Statement

The Mission of the Little Falls Public Library is to provide resources and services that encourage literacy and enrich the community by opening doors to the lifelong enjoyment of learning.

Books
  • Books at LFPL can be checked out for a period of 21 days.
  • Books can be renewed twice, as long as there are no holds on the item, and your account is in good standing.
  • If you have renewals left, your item will auto-renew at the end of 21 days.
eBooks and digital Audiobooks
  • all eBooks, audiobooks, and digital magazines are downloadable and free through OverDrive and Hoopla.
  • Items will be checked out for a period of 21 days.
  • You can renew any items through the OverDrive or Hoopla apps.
  • Items will auto-return at the end of their loan period.
Audiobooks
  • Audiobooks can be checked out for a period of 21 days.
  • Audiobooks can be renewed twice, as long as there are no holds on the item, and your account is in good standing.
  • If you have renewals left, your item will auto-renew at the end of 21 days.
  • You are limited to 6 audiobooks per library card.
Kindle
  • Kindles can be checked out for a period of 14 days.
  • Kindles are not eligible for renewals.
  • The overdue fine for Kindles is $1.00 per day.

Music CDs
  • CDs can be checked out for a period of 21 days.
  • Music CDs can be renewed once, as long as there are no holds on the item, and your account is in good standing.
  • If you have renewals left, your item will auto-renew at the end of 21 days.
  • You are limited to 6 music CDs per library card.
Movies (DVD and Blu-Rays)
  • All movie (DVD and Blu-Ray) can be checked out for a period of 7 days.
  • New movies can be renewed once, as long as there are no holds on the item, and your account is in good standing.  Old movies can be renewed twice, under the same conditions.
  • If you have renewals left, your item will auto-renew at the end of 7 days.
  • You are limited to 2 new movies and 10 old movies per library card.
TV Series
  • TV series can be checked out for a period of 14 days.
  • New TV series can be renewed once, as long as there are no holds on the item, and your account is in good standing.  Old TV series can be renewed twice, under the same conditions.
  • If you have renewals left, your item will auto-renew at the end of 14 days.
  • You are limited to 2 seasons per library card.
Magazines
  • Magazines can be checked out for a period of 7 days.
  • Magazines can be renewed twice, as long as there are no holds and your account is in good standing.
  • If you have renewals left, your item will auto-renew at the end of 7 days.
Hotspot and Tablets
  • Hotspots and tables can be checked out for a period of 14 days.
  • Hotspots and tablets are not eligible for renewal.
  • The overdue fine for hotspots and tablets is $0.50 per day.
  • You are limited to 1 hotspot or tablet per library card.

Museum Passes
  • Museum passes can be checked out for a period of 3 days.
  • Museum passes are not elligible for renewal.
  • Checkouts for museum passes can be reserved ahead of time, as long as it does not conflict with other reservations.
  • The overdue fine for Museum Passes is $5.00 per day.

Gift and Donation Policy

The Little Falls Public Library welcomes donations of new and used books, audio recordings, DVDs, and similar materials that have been published in the last 3 years.
  • Items will be added to the collection in accordance with the selection policy of the library.
  • The library reserves the right to decide when any gift/donation added to the collection must  be withdrawn.
  • Pick up is not available; all items must be brought to the library.
  • The library reserves the right to refuse any materials due to condition or age. (Note: Please do not drop off materials that do not meet the library's donation policy. The Little Falls Recycling Center does accept books.)
  • The library does not accept Reader's Digests, magazines, condensed books, text books,  encyclopedias or series books.
  • The library does not provide an appraisal service, suggest value, recommend professional appraisers, nor provide lists of donated materials.
  • The library will only acknowledge receipt of donated items at the time of donation. In order to receive a signed receipt for materials donations, a written listing of the donated items must be furnished to the library at the time of donation.
Monetary gifts, bequests, and memorial or honorary contributions are particularly welcome. Funds donated will be used to purchase items in accordance with the selection policy of the library. Books, videos, and other materials purchased with bequests and memorial or honorary contributions will be identified with special donor labels whenever possible. If requested, notification of memorial or honorary contributions will be sent to the family of the person being recognized. Suggestions for subject areas or other areas of interest are welcome and will be followed to the extent possible.
 
Acceptance of donations of equipment, real estate, stock, artifacts, works of art, collections, etc. will be determined by the library board based on suitability to the purposes and needs of the library, laws and regulations that govern ownership of the gift, and the library's ability to cover insurance and maintenance costs associated with the donation.

Donated items become the property of the Little Falls Public Library and may be given to other libraries and non-profit agencies, sold, traded, or discarded if they are not added to the collection. Donated items will not be returned to the donor and the library will not accept any item that is not an outright gift.

Items received by/delivered to the library without the director's prior approval will be considered unsolicited donations. The library accepts no responsibility for unsolicited donations and is under no obligation to these donors.
